Maryborough in Queensland was named in honour of Governor Fitzroy's wife, Mary in 1848. It was declared a Port of Entry in 1859 and a municipality in 1861. Each year Maryborough hosts the Fraser Coast Show, descended from the Wide Bay and Burnett Pastoral and Agricultural Society's first show in 1876.
