Longreach

Longreach in
Queensland was first named Forrest Grove but renamed by
railway surveyors when they examined Forrest Grove as a
suitable railway terminus and thought that a large waterhole
on a long reach of the river was superior. Thus what had
previously been nothing more than a drovers' stopping place
became Longreach, gazetted as a town in 1887. Today, Longreach's
main tourist attraction is the Stockman's Hall of Fame together
with the Qantas Founders Museum.
